Day 27: Be a Light to Others

DAY 27: BE A LIGHT TO OTHERS

It’s the second to the last day of the MTLCourse, and you are not the same woman who began the course. Things might be slightly different, or a lot different, but I hope both directions head towards happier, healthier, and more loving of your body and self.

There is power when we tell other people our journey and what we learned about ourselves in the process. More To Love Course is based on the strength of self-discovery, and you have done so,  bravely and beautifully. The movement of body-positivity cannot be done in silence or solitude—we need more people to stand up and share what they’ve realized about their value, happiness, and worth, and then share it with others. Inspiration is not forcing someone to be moved, but rather, ignite within them their own desire to grow by sharing your own story first.

TODAY, TELL SOMEONE ABOUT YOUR TIME IN THE MORE TO LOVE COURSE—THE REASONS YOU JOINED, WHAT HIT HOME MOST FOR YOU, AND THE RESULTS YOU FELT, WITNESSED, AND DISCOVERED WHILE GOING THROUGH THE DAILY ACTIONS.

You can share this on Facebook, a blog, in person or any way you'd like. By telling someone what you experienced here, you seal in the goodness, so to speak. You’re also acting in confidence and boldness, because your story matters. You’ve rewritten your body-image story, which, as you know, goes so much deeper than what the body functionally is. You have worked hard on yourself and fought for what you love . . . and that commitment is worthy of being heard and shared.

You’re not bragging; you are sharing—the difference is, in bragging, you crave attention and validation for an act rooted in insecurity; when we openly and honestly share our experience with others, we seek nothing in return. It’s done out of love and a gentle intimacy of speaking your truth. This is what inspires others: your courage and bravery to speak  truth and to act in love of yourself and your well-being.
