So what do winter and yoga have in common?
To me, a lot. Winter is a time where you turn inward and quiet down. In yoga, the idea is to do the same so that you create space to notice what’s happening just under the surface of your mind and body.
But sometimes, we don’t want to turn inward. We resist it. We want the hot summer sun, the careless ease of beach days. And with yoga, we want our body to effortlessly get into poses and hold them.
Living in Boston, I know these winters are rough…and living in a culture that demands body-perfection…the harshness can feel just too much.
But if we take a step back to appreciate the wisdom of both winter and yoga we find that it’s about adapting and balance. Of Patience. Preparation. Tuning attention inward. Slowing down to warm up.
